Bond out first and apply finish when bonding is tacky

Yep thats what I do.
However also if I'm feeling energetic, I'll make a curve out of some MDF so that when used edge on all you do is walk along with the edges touching wall and ceiling. look back and the curve is there....not necessary if the join angle is much more than 115/120 degrees though.

board ceiling and curve.
then mix gear and put a coat on to form curve start other end of room and skim upto curve.
second coat up as usual .
trowel as usual ,but dont plasy with the curve.
run ur brush along curve when troweling
job done.

dont bother bonding them out anymore. i just get a hawkful of stiff finish and fill them out, then knock up a normal tub and away you go

Just had to do same thing on two ceilings last week.knocked my first mix up and made my curve with the plaster then carried on with rest of ceiling, went straight it with first and second coat by then its blended in lovely.if you stick bond on ther then youve got a different drying time than the boarded part.keep it simple

Yeah using skim to dub out curves is fine , get the mix and the timing right you will have no probs , but for newbies using a different product like carlite bonding is easier imo , learn how to do it right first and then learn how to earn a living second i say . like ?

Make a feature using a wooden baton right where curve would go. I recomend this on all large ceilings that are over 10m2, especialy after a night out ;)

I bang my curve out with bonding and fresh cement first sets in 20min then bash on I don't like to see a sag in the plaster where its heavy but that's just my way everyone to there own

thats why i do quarter tub finish stiff as u can use it, chuck that in, give it 10 then knock up fresh tub. think it spreads over finish nicer than bonding
