how do you guys cut out patches on boarded ceilings.
Was fixing a 200mm hole in a bellied section of a ceiling, and cutting along the joist was a right ball ache. Took me about an hour to cut a 780mm square hole.
1st thing I do is to cut a piece of P/board bigger than the patch, hold it over the hole and mark it and then cut the existing ceiling away to where its marked. Always find this easier than cutting P/board to the patch in the ceiling or wall. Then I pop some timber battens through that are longer than the hole and screw through the board to hold the battens in place and then screw the new bit of board to this.
