d+d onto painted brick

hi,fellas,if you were to d+d onto painted brick would you have to use wba or is using pva good enough bond for the adhesive? the paint is sound . cheers

na mate dab straight on as long as its dust free dry wall adh will stick to anythin
 
yeah i've done it many times but i always worry about it a bit,after all the bond is to the paint rather than the bricks.
i think you've just got to use your own judgement as to how sound the paintwork is.
I have dabbed over a section of a wall that had layers of whitewash that was flaking off,i forgot to key it up and was in the middle of a mix and needed to finish so thought f**k it,meant to put some hammer fixings in after but forgot. :-[
i've never been called back.
anyway my point is,if you're worried put some hammer fixings in each board. ;)
 
ive had a couple of walls blow over paint in the past and had to screw afterwards to resecure. Defo seal matt paint and glue silk imo
