Has anyone had problems with dabbing lintels, the black ones with little holes not concrete lintels, had heads pop twice today there coming off very clean with the dab still attached to the board
Never had this problem before bags are good etc I've given it a slurry for tomorrow if that goes tits I'll gyp bond it ....but can't see why I should?

I give them a smear of drywall then dab onto that, but you're right, they aren't the best to stick too.

While it's wet, in my mind the smear pushes the drywall well into the holes and kills any dust settling on the surface. But I think the real problem is the shiney smooth surface of the lintel.

I do the same with concrete ones coz these seem to fail a lot, just the dust on them though i think.

My old apprentice tried to nail them into a catnic once - I wanted to kill the stupid fukka:RpS_thumbup:

i concur...:RpS_thumbup:

i smear the lintels and smear the board too, its a bit like what you do with contact adhesive

Spot on

Yep same as, did you do them when it was frosty or really cold that mihgt have caused them to pop once the weather got a bit cooler. xxxx

Yea quick smear and a nice tight dab, wouldnt have thought it would need thistle bonding, am i thinking of right lintel, a steel one? if so they are a nightmareand ive had loadsa call backs normally after a bouple of months saying that theyve popped, idiotic way of putting a lintel in, but hey, no one thinks about the plasterers lol

If you use the adhy as already mentioned ie prime the lintel with the mats then dab with same their shouldn't be a a problem , the only time you will have a prob is if you disturb it during the initial set, the times i've told my lads not to fook about with it while it's setting, just leave it alone an it should be fine, i can honestly say i've never had one fail

Yeah it helps too, if you put the reveals on after the head. If you cut them nice, they take the weight of the head and the face board above it.

You can do it all at once...no need to let the head set.

I assumed that it whent without saying that the basics of boar, d fixing would be employed, ie support, fixings, etc etc, Dave your a wind up merchant, can't beleive I got sucked in to this one :RpS_blushing:

Just prop the middle up with a bit of roofing batten or similar until adhesive has set .

You're joking I hope

Henry went alright mate they stuck like a twooper think I'll do it like this all the time now :RpS_thumbup:
