I passed a job on Saturday and some local builders are using the damp proof membrane used for cellars on the external walls on a house.never seen that before.i went over as no one was there and they had scratched it and it was covered in hairline cracks!!!
Has anyone seen this before on external?

Just drop a card through their door day after its finished with a note saying give me a ring next year when all your render falls off :RpS_laugh:

You can use a system similar to internal tanking, the plastic contains an embedded mesh, you need three coats to finish it, quite weak mixes with fibres and lime that I used a few years back, of course it works, it's like everything in our world ,knowledge of the system ,time ,weather and skill

Yep it's suppose to be a weak mix 7 and 1.1 on membranes or bonding. I've never seen it used externally tho.
