This sh*te standard practice? They have put a vapour barrier behind then plugged plaster board to fix it, I'm just expected to skim it!!! It flopping around all over the place and the plugs protrude 3 - 5mm!! 25 year guaranty as well ha!!

It's been tanked as well apparently, I priced for this same job using Soverign, k11, then breathable backing plaster, breathable skim!! Said it was a £1000 cheaper now I see why!!

A new type of tanking, perhaps they used a tanking membrane, but that would entail battens screwed on ,levelled ,then boarded, a bodge is my best guess

In ten years of DPC work thats as ruff as I have ever seen.

Looks to me like they have tacked up a cavity drain membrain to the walls, then used "plaster fixings" to fix the boards and some expanding foam to boot!

Also they haven't DP the whole downstairs they have missed the kitchen and also and exterior wall!!! Fckin shocking!!

This is for a property fella, there a joiner overseeing it apparently, what should I do tell him to go and see it rather than taking a numpties word for it!!

pissed me off no end the joiner he's stripped all the walls back to brick so now I'm having to quote again!! Only the property guy hasn't really got a clue that he's just doubled my work load!

Thank you I'm glad you said that, I'm no expert with DPC but done and seen enough to wonder wtf they were doing!

Why has all the plaster been stripped? But board thing done at the bottom? Have you to float the full wall now I take it spanky ?

The fella wouldn't like to see my float and set price for these walls! Just dabbing mate walls are proper fcked not worth the time to float them out. Said I would float and set the kitchen although would have loved to see the numpty joiner fitting the kitchen :RpS_sneaky:

Membrane on the walls, above ground level, over kill even though its not done properly. The plugs are put through the boards they supposed to go through the membrane with tape around the plugs before being hammered back to seal the hole. Waterproof render is all that was needed for this job. D.i.y.ers :)

I've done some membrane work for a "damproof"company.told them I would rather s n c anyday, and cheaper for them.easier for me.but they use the membrane method to offer their guarantee.stopped doing their work now, they brought a franchise in a national company and have no idea about the building is of things.i was earning a good day rate but I'm sure they were creaming it in,so fook em.

I use this system a lot in the rental market! if I injected a chemical dpc and s & c it after the recommended drying time is 10-12 months before it can be papered which is no good to the landlord as they need it tenanted to earn a coin and with this the can do it the week after. don't get me wrong I fecking hate it!!!!!!! you have to put a coat of bonding on it to be able to skim it and boy is it time consuming, I cant render a room in the time it takes to membrane a wall.

that just looks like thermal board.plugged onto the brickwork.council used 2 do it that way 20 year ago.they stopped doing it cos it disny work
