Damproofing

Any of you guys clued up in damproofing? i have a wall to do for a boy he says there a damp came through from next door and has big crack right down the wall and needs sorted. i was thinking of lafts and damp course then board and skim. any ideas lads? :-\

just tank it safer in the long run and maybe a bit cheaper , if not hack off to 200MM above dampest point and no less than 1200mm high and drill and inject with (dryzone or Sim) siliconate cream (double drill if double skin party wall) re-render same using a modified render IE 3:1:1 sand cement waterproofer and skim when set. But if it,s a party wall as you say then just tank it or you have to start looking at party wall agreemants etc etc
