S a plastering

Doing a job for a builder soon I'm pretty new to him but some of the lads who have been with him for a while say that if anything goes tits up for any reason it's down to you.
In a couple of months I've got to do a full wetherby thin coat system half brickwork half board.
Was thinking of getting him to sign a deceleration if he wants me to do it just to cover my arse what do you lads do in this situation cheers

Sounds like you know what to do swerve him but in the real world we dont as we all need the work ! Dont do a great deal of exterior work but in acouple months its indoors all week regardless goodluck you havent earned a penny and your rattled I have this all the time worrying when to fit people in etc go with the flow!! Its not worth worrying ! What will be will be etc

Especially if its too cold to apply thats when he will try to pressure you to get it done.
ive walked on a lot of jobs and not returned.

make it clear to him you will do it your way, when you say(weather wise) and how you want to do it,, there are a lot of builders out there who are looking for excuses not to pay

just set out your ground rules with the builder before you start any work, just explain what you expect of him and how you do things etc as neither of you want to have your wires crossed when your into the job??

I'm on day work for this so not arsed an it won't be getting done till it's ready weather wise I'm more bothered about any premature cracking an stuff there is quite a few expansion beads in it due to all the different backgrounds

if your on day work you can afford to spend sufficient time in your prep work to make sure you have no comebacks regarding cracks etc

I had these bullying builders in my plastering contract days. I know the type.

Day work or not if he is not happy or has concerns he will not pay, he is covering his own arse! In a way he does right as I am sure subbies have ripped him of in the past and he has learned the hard way but you also have to be careful. If you can avoid him, he is not worth the worry.

How would you word it?

Get them to sign something, 2 copies, one for you and one for him.

I do this with any exterior work, it just lets everyone know where they stand regarding the work, if they don't sign, they can use someone else.

The last builder that asked me to do some rendering wanted 26m2 mono for £120.00

Only half a days work
