When patching in to exsisting plaster do you lads try and feather in or just leave it high and let the decorators fill upto it,i ask cus ive been moaned at this week as feathering it in causes more work as when they bang the emulsion on it fetches off the thin skim.....(if you follow my drift).

feather it in. make sure your work is done properly. but then if the decorator asks you to leave it then do so. as long as the customer knows he's asked you to. always help other trades when you can mate.

Thats a decorator trying to sound off mate. As long as you've pva'd then feather it in. I bet you any money he's not rollering the paint in properly. Some decorators can ruin even the best work and wont take the blame.

i worked with a spread who hated the painter the builder normally used. polished it and polished it. it was like a mirror. turned out the builder got a different painter for this certain job and he felt a right tit.

polish the walls like glass... give them something to whine on about... i love it me

I used to polish insults into the finish, they only showed up when the mist coat went on. It rather upset the painter ;D

The edge can lift if spread too thin with fat, once done polish it up then rub the life out of it with a plastic bag!! ;D That'll piss him off!

I boarded and skimmed a couple of bedrooms over christmas. Just before i put my last mix on my bulb popped in the light and the room had no electrics working in it. I asked the fella if i could come back the next day and finish it but he said that would be a problem as the new carpets were getting fitted. So i said i would do it then but i would need to come back before it was painted to give it a check it over as it was pretty dark. He said he would give me a shout a few days before the painter came so i could pop back and fill and sand any holes. A couple of days later he rang in the evening and said the painter was coming the next day. I went round a filled a couple of holes ( which was not bad considering i could not see ) i explained to the customer that i would not be able to sand it as it would need to dry out. So i asked him to get the painter to quickly sand it. The next day i got a phone call to say the painter fuming and wanted £120 to sand it down!!! Cheeky b*****d!! So i had to then leave the job i was on to go sort it out which took 5 mins!
