Have a newly plastered ceiling in v small shower room - do I have to paint it? Colour is good and works with tiles so I'd leave it if I could but father in law says it will start to crumble over time. He knows nothing about plastering though just has to have an opinion on everything. Can't get an answer from google so coming to the experts....

I had a few customers do this over the years.

If left bare, unsealed or treated, it'd go to s**t quite quickly, depending on how much moisture or steam is in the room.

I have had customers put,

A wax over my finished work, made for walls, (interior designer bird)

Young chippy put linseed oil, may have been danish oil over walls in the kitchen,

Acrylic sealer/glaze (matt)

And a drive sealer (matt)
