just had a call from someone wanting a rendering qoute ( back of semi ) its all scaffolded and scratch coated, but the plasterer cant find time to finish it :RpS_sneaky: what you reckon.... I think they fell out and hes fuked off... anyway, find out saturday.. :RpS_thumbup:

Be careful buddy, had something similar.

some guy rung me telling me he owned a building firm with loads of work on and he had fell out with his plasterer, he wanted 26m2 mono doing in a day, on my own and expected to pay about £120/£130 labour only

Sheffield builder too

Is it a case of fell out or messed about usually over money?? Might be worth asking who the spread is?? I'm never keen to finish what somebody else has started and I'd turn them down? Then again if you haven't much on etc its a tough call?? Hope it works out for you :-)

did ask for the plasterers name as i would need to know what mix the scratch was, she said her husband would know... probably fell out, but I;ll have a look... cheers...

Just ask the customer who the original plasterer is, "As you don't want to step on anyones' toes"
If the customer won't tell you or 'can't remember' just swerve it.

Edit: Just seen your reply above.

i think the same as you cassie,,(fell out),,,its unlikely that he cant find a spare day or two to finish the job,, if his scratching looks al-right id guess they fell out over money,,, only a guess??????????

either that or he shagged the missus or got caught shagging the dog either way hes not coming back

Been to enough of those jobs where I find out that they want me to finish somebody else's work. I always turn around and walk away. No good ever comes out of one of those, unless the other guy has died or something.

and the moral of that story......

don't die half way through a job.

its funny you should say that i went to look at a job tonight that was ment to be a new kitchen but nothing and i mean nothing was right no beads on corners skrim showing through he caused a gas leak all the electrics were unsafe and started smoking so need changing the new units have been hacked to peices all work tops dont fit and have been cut with handsaw all over the place none are straight, the list goes on the client said within 24 hours of the "completion" of the job he had 3 double sided sheets of a4 as a snagging list, anyway asked him what the builder has said and hes brown bread, apparently had cancer (pancreatic) diddnt tell anyone and died not long after finishing the job so now my outfit have got to strip the lot out and start again and hes got to pay for it all again

I bet the bloke has died on his last five jobs steer clear they got **** work coz they wanted cheap. I would sack this rendering job coz if it ever goes pear shaped it's on your toes, you don't know what the scratch is and you won't find out until you start topping it but by then it's to late, my advise would be stay clear.

Is it a new extension? If not the scratch could be over anything and might blow in a few months, then your stuck with the problem

Good luck with that, the builder is going to have to pay more than double for the work and from past experience there might be an air of animosity on going through out the project, hope it's not so in your case.

no builder envolved now hes dead the fella whos house it is said he wished hed got us in, in the first place cos we have done work for him before and it was pukka but this other fella (the dead one) gave him a better quote for the kitchen works i.e. cheaper and now its gonna cost him twice as much as before to get it sorted, thats what you get for going for the cheapest quote i guess

Now there's a moral for householders and clients cheapest isn't always the cheapest solution !! (now where's my budgie seed) cheep cheep....

Cassie is this job at Parson Cross? I got a phone call today and sounds the same job? Looking at it tomorrow.

the original plasterer probably is busy with an inside job where he can do enough to get paid and cant be furked coming back for the odd day when its dry
