Hey,

Im not too sure if this is the right place to post this so apologies if it isn’t!

I’m currently rewiring my house and have had the ceilings tested for asbestos (which came back positive). All the walls are dot and dabbed or laminate partition I believe it’s called but there’s 2 walls which when I started cutting a switch out, I noticed these gold/shiny bits within the plaster/bonding.

Does anyone know what is?

Never heard of it so just looked it up. Says people put it in soil in plant pots because it’s great for water retention.... which sounds like a daft thing to put in plaster

It’s heat resistant properties are the reason they put it in plaster similar to asbestos without the cancer.
I use it a lot when fitting fires
