Hey Lads
I was just wondering what method you lads use to dot n dad i'e where you start from, how many dabs, dab all the wall first or dab one board at a time etc,
Thanks for any info

Start at the most convenient point, usually tucked against another wall - constant bead of adhesive around all edges of the board (fire regulations) and then regular dabs in between - normally throw it on with a bucket trowel

Only dab enough wall for one board at a time , offer the board up , bang it home with your hands and then I use a length of CLS to really bang it home - Keep checking for level and vertical with your spirit level - take your time over the first board cos all others will run off it

Never board to the floor use cut offs of plasterboard (slippers) to rest your boards on then pull them out once board has set to the wall, usually after a couple of hours

i agree. i also usually put my spirit level up against the walls before anything to see where id need more gear i.e hollows or dips of broken bricks and mark it, then it saves getting the board up and the adesive not even touching the board.

first of all it makes a massive difference in the gear u use, I had a 20m wall to dab & skim today it was a nightmare because I was given Lefarge dry wall adesive to use, it must cost 10p per bag, I am a dabber/plasterer/cover, and have been dabbing many years but this is the first time I have used this chite and i wont use it again, its alot worse than British Gypsum Dry wall, I have said many times on here Knauf drywall leaves everything else way behind its so easy to use no where near as claggy, gear cleans st off, its as though the rest are from 30 years in the past, infact all knauf gear makes life much easier on large areas the boards/dabbing/multi/and cove just make life easier

the easiest way to start if youre new to dabbing is either strike a chalk line on the ceiling or floor and level youre boards of that line then check them horizontaly ...........fit your reveals after

1/2 boards full row of dabs across the ceiling edge and bottom, then 3 rows across top to bottom about every 9 inchs or every other block, window reaveals on first, always cut them about 2 inchs bigger than needed board up to reveals then trim of excess from reveals, sure youll develop you own ways on how you do your d+d

Cheers lads i was being taught a stupid way i thought, This bloke was lying the board flat on the ground dabbing the board then offering the board to wall then whacking it with timber!!! didnt use a level or anything just timber so flat, But when he went i went like looking and on some edges and in middles of boards there was like excess movement in my opinon is this a dodgy way of doing it???

Didnt think so as the board became really heavy and he had a small cut to do and when he lifted it off the floor the board snapped lol i aboot pissed mesen
