HI.

Probably a stupid question :-\ but is it possible to put skrim and dri wall adhesive on plaster board joints and then multi finish over (or will they react)??, have boarded a room out and have a few bags of adhesive left...

Thanks

What boards are you using taperd edge ?

no...square edge but I dont want any cracks once the skim has gone on and thought that this might stop cracks between the boards.

Thanks

in theory youre supposed to leave a penny gap put a nail top and bottom and fill the joint with scim then scrim it ........noone bothers though mate especially on site ive seen as many probs with tapered edge as square edge boards

Its not a bad idea then , if you use the pb adhesive wetish and push it through the joint and leave it flush then stick the scrim so its not proud , you might get some suction from the adhesive when set and left but you can sort that out .

take the left over bags to b&q and get a credit note, done that a few times and didnt have a receipt and had piched the gear from site anyway lol.

Dri-wall adhesive is brittle as f**k. Some tapers I know use it instead of fast set. Not a good idea.

I have worked behind a load of builders that want to dab the walls for you and for some reason they think its neccesary to smear the joints with adhessive making the scrim not stick which drives me up the wall >:(

great for coving... specially wickes (knauf?) stuff...
had an old bag and used that the other week...
went off like a rocket...

painted it before i left ;D

(in fact i gave the cove 2 coats of matt white soon as it was cut before i mixed up, just whited the ceiling and wall line and corners then magnolia cut in the bottom edge)

LOOKS SPOT ON before anyone says owt ;D going back next week to tile the ensuite.. happy customers 8)

Theres another thing you not supposed to bridge the joints with adhesive either

ive skimmed over acres of the fookin stuff when following bob d buidair around and scriming is a nightmare but for those of us who are pre self adhesive its not impossible, ive had no probs with cracking or anything
