Anyone used this foam adhesive much for fixing plasterboard on block Walls ect.

Usually comes in tube and conected to an applicator gun. Pink grip do 1 as do insta stik. The latter actualy does one now where u don't need the gun.

So does anyone use this instead of mixing up the dry wall and what are you thoughts... Any good??

no! i like to do it the plasterers way! youll be asking next if we buy Aunt bessies:RpS_scared:

It's crap mate. You can't tamp it with your straight edge and it keeps expanding for a while so getting joints level without physically standing there holding it is almost impossible. Only good thing about it is that you can stick to painted surfaces and stick foil backed boards.

its the worst thing ever ! a builder gave me some to try, cant level it, wont take a nail on the corners for a bead, you have to time it perfect as if you push the board to early it squeezes out and to late it doesnt stick!!!

Hmm sounds like best sticking with the dry wall then!

As a newbie to this Iv been having a problem with the dry wall going off fast in the bucket?? About 10-15 mins, any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Cheers

You cant be mixing it up properly pal, how are you doin it? a large flexi/gorrilla tub half filled with water takes about 2 and half to 3 bags and you should get approx 5 boards on with that give or take, should have plenty of time with it

Could you stick to tiles with this stuff?

@PLASTAMASTA. I get about double what you get out of board adhesive, works out roughly 1 bag to 10m2 (3 or 4 boards). Do you put solid lines around the outside or are the walls bad?

Hi danny, using 3m boards at the mo solid skirting and ceiling line and around sockets. 8x4 boards i get bout 3 boards to a bag but all depends on the background.

Ah, thought it must be something like that. Is it for the air pressure test?

Yep you got it pal, they also wanted solid edges on every board (but not paying extra) so Fook that so we agreed on solid edges to first and last board for each wall.

Yeah I got a theory on this. As long as the skirting line is solid, around the sockets and doors then it should be airtight.....the finish takes care of the rest.

I was using a small bag mixed in a 10 ltr bucket size. Can't remember the mix off the top of my head but mixed to the quantity stated on the bag to mix the whole bag. Got me board up just 8x4, but the bit left had gone off in the bucket. Same with the next mix.

I don't dare mix bigger quantity's, worried it will have gone off within twenty mins wasting my materials?

small bag? what brand of dry wall adhesive you using?

what you mixing it with? are you using one of those little paddles you stick in a drill/driver?

Sounds like ya mixing it too long, its doesnt have to be as smooth as finish when ya mixing it, as long as it doesnt slide off my taping knife when i scrape it out the tub i know its about the right consistancy.

Make sure the water your using is clean and cold warm or dirty water sets it off faster

Knauf goes off too quickly in my opinion!

Lafarge bonding compound is the best & gives you 2 hours working time ... and it smells nice! :)
