Quite common to get a crack line on door slam side so this is how I cut my boards , anyone else , or better ideas , also welcome ; the usual wise cracks

I always board like that, you can see my deprived childhood shining through with my plasterboard letters.

Quite simply don't follow lines with board or it cracks

Spelling mistake there, surely you meant depraved . I have a similar approach to boarding cielings but won't go into that just yet.

Ha yes , it was an extremely long time ago but I'm sure I failed case English , I do know the difference between deprived and depraved though
Also should change keyboard as "case " was typed CSE

Is that standard practice , sorry late reply , forgot to post, cheers

Yes it's standard practice to avoid creating weak areas prone to cracking where possible. This is why boards are staggered. Surely you know this?
No, no contact with plasterers for 20 y , always done it myself ( I was an engineering student and always found dry lining fascinating ) , occasionally will get a phone call from .old customers who have had well know local builders do a bit of internal wall moving and don't bother

I usually just joggle the board, so the board over the head of the door lining interlocks by about 20mm and breaks up the vertical line.

You find dry lining fascinating? It's fooking mind numbing
Yes, boring exercise , but fascinating system design and construction techniques, it's mechanical engineering as much as plastering

Sorry not entirely sure what you mean , joggle ? , cheers

Can you draw the stud work , by the way I think there's a ghost in your camera

Draw us a diagram love.
It was a joke , save all the hassle and leave no doorway , but now I'm inspired to sketch and photo ( only just learnt ) so another way I use is this , depends on using offcuts

You should get that as a tattoo. Like a plasterers tramp stamp.
To save any repeated " what and why" questions I'd probably get straight to the point and have "MAD" on my forehead , just for extra clarity

Never used paper tape is that standard practice ,
Mechanically how does this eliminate the vibration on the board joint , surely not as good as no joint by boarding edges elsewhere
