Hello guys,

I am sticking a conservatory on monday and one of the walls has exterior masonary paint on it will drywall stick to it?

Cheers

Danny

yeh go for it mate, i usually dab in the morning, have some lunch and hit the thing in one set in the afternoon...
done loads like it, not had any comebacks... if the walls are roughish ti'll stay on..
obly thing you ever gotta worry bout with them things is this...
think of the abutment wall (where the conny joins the house)
thats an external wall...see the weepers they put in brickwork above ig/catnic lintels? theyre there to let water out that has soaked into the bricks, a cavity litel will channel water to the external face...
the wall above the conny is subject to ingress....
then if theres weepers above the french door in the conny, thats where the waters gonna come out (as well as the bricks)
the way round it is to install 'cavity trays' above the conny that work like a cavity lintel and channel the water back out again before it hits the 'internal' conny...
just dab it though mate, everybody else will...
if not theyll hardwall it, which i think is even worse on the abutment wall...

ay if its smooth, and knowing your prices danny... gypbond...
were just the gypbond fan club ey?
f'ckin good stuff though..
that last house we did, property developer, told my mate to get the bloke to get his lads to gypbond the entire house next time
happy days! ;)

just a thought though... never dabbed on gypbond before, dunno how long before it goes off...??? nicksey..??  might be a 2 half days...
and to be honest, im usually pushin my luck dabbin in a morning and skimming an hour later... on brick... without paint or anything

Segs.... (I am on the Vino)

I am now a beleiver again of PVA... mad aint it???

2 x coats of 1 - 1

1 x 3 - 1 left over night

Hit it straight in the morning ... works a treat...lol council is buying me 10ltr of PVA a week at the min...lol

I am tempted to pink it... however my prices are not as good as you think... I have system at the min that is proving to work well, I will explain when sobererererererer....

So should i just dab it then??? I am being assessed!!

Cheers

Danny

(pissed up T$%T)

i could be completely wrong here .........you know we cut corners sometimes  ::)............if i were you danny i'd do it by the book if youve got an assesor coming for a visit
the only bad experience ive had with skimming over wet gypbondit was once where a section tore off the wall while i was polishing it  ;D obviously it was still wet underneath ..oops
with backing coats as long as it's not soaking wet ive always gone straight over it ........i know im not pushing the material around on top of it when it's on there it's on there i.e hardwall/drylining compound etc .........from MY experience ive never had it fail yet but you should still go by the book and let it cure properly  ;)
p.s sorry mate just realised the whole point of the answer ;D................it'll take a little longer to go off nothing drastic though youll still be done in a day ;)

I boughtn some "Pink" today so that will get lashed on in the morning.

Thanks for the tips

Danny

Wish me luck

good luck mate, and dont forget that stuff is evil to get off anything when dry, connys are all glass and plastic (u know that though..just reminding you) ...have a wet sponge handy ;)

another good tip.. if you got a bit on the roofbars or the windows at the edges... brillo pad just before final trowel ;)

Will it get it off the labourer? ;D
Hi chaps
Did you miss me?
No thought not.
