What do you do when a customer dumps more work on you?
started a job this morn for a m8te 5 lids over artex on starting the 2ND lid all round the light has poped and coming away said that this needs fixing before i skim he said f**k it I'm selling the house not my prob
(but its mine) if it all comes down round my ears when I'm skimming
3rd lid `sheeted up got the pop up out and started to have a scrap the artex all come down what a mess to clean up

what I'm getting at is i priced up for an overskim 5 artex lids not to be sorting dogy lids and dropping artex pain in my arse so the lids that can be skimed iv PVAed washed up packed up and siting at home waiting for a call from him can't wait

Always put a bit extra on for any problems you think might happen,
If they do as in your case then you've covered your self money wise.
If they dont its a bonus.

If i price a job and think there might be something a bit dodgy ill put an extra day on the price. ;)

Other than that you need to tell him its gonna cost extra!

I'd definetly try to add it on, just put it on your invoice as extra work & extra materials & charge accordingly ;)

When you say mist coating you on about painting??

Problem with these jobs is, he (your mate) just expects you to do whats necessary, afterall, you are a plasterer, and he won't give a flying fcuk about the artex peeling as he'll think it's just par for the course!!! That's the trouble with artex (i know cos i did it for years) sometimes the background hasn't been pva'd and i've even been guilty of throwing it straight on to unprepared surfaces. The shame of it!!! :P

whenever lath and plaster ius involved I always price to reboard as you 9 times out of 10 end up doing it.....

yer i meen painting m8te when the guy first moved in i did offer to help him out but he said that he has a plasterers in mind that done a load of plastering for him but he was pissed all the time so they just f**ked him off
and left it at that now im left with all the crap too sort out
sored a 4 bed house out for him last year as if was a shell and was just rewired and cables were in chanels
so D&D the lot skimed it and rendered the back of the house
proper money grabing git tight arse when it comes to money

To be perfectly honest you should of noticed at the begining and priced for it and like what danny said its just as quick to overboard and skim and less chance of problems so i would take it on the chin.

i mite take it on the chin its just he wanted a fast job as he wants it on the market in the next 2 weeks
he dont give a f**k if it all comes down when he is gon but im not puting my board up out side for a dogy job for him to save money thats not my style :P

A quick skim over lol charge what you normally charge and work like you normally work dont drop your pricew and standards for friends or family.

Sod mates rates and all that bollox, there's no friends in business. I learned that the hard way, many times over!!!!
