You also want battens or your just asking for trouble.

Ive done it on battons its a nightmare you need to make sure its super tight other wise the gear just falls down the back its better with riblath than eml.

If you're trying to get away with two coats then EML is crap but when giving it a prickup coat I've never found it a problem and fibres help as well.

we used to add perlite to sand and cement for scratching in over lath made it real light and fluffy and a piece of p1ss tospread on lath.

Where do you get perlite is it like vermiculite?

its a lightweight additive like little balls of polystyrene( but isnt ) not sure where to get it over here.we would mix as normal and add a large bucket of the stuff made sand and cement like browning
