Estwings always tend to go missing as some f**k*r always wants to rob them. As above I just get b&q's own now

well done danny lol also the estwing lath hammer has a head on it designed so it doesnt pierce the board if you miss the nails, yep thats right we used to use nails in the olden days and those that have been in the game a while and used old lath hammers if you missed with them and caught your thumb is took a piece of skim off where as the estwing will only make it swell lol

a hammer's a hammer in my opinion. all you need is a small one and a fuckoff biggun!

wrong pug very wrong, when i first started on sight we were nailing boards still, get one with a nice handle and well balanced and it makes it so much easier, especially when you're boarding all day. flynny is it right that the old hammers had a hex shape head? the old boy i worked with always told me if you hit your finger with that it used to destroy your didgets!

how often do you nail boards now? I was being facetious tbh. but unless you're using it all day every day, i don't see the point of splashing out big bucks

yeah you're right, although ive got 3 hammers, 2 claw and 1 lath and they are all estwing, i just find them comfier, can't stand those cheap ones with plastic handles

Estwing are good, well-balanced hammers as steve says - great if you're using one for a long time.

It's me favourite hammer, but I got a few C & N ones as well:RpS_cool:

Still using nails!!! ffS how old were you when you started 9!!! I know people who still use nails instead of screws. **** that

it was for a certain builder mate, when i first started none of his chippys even had cordless drills, and 1 of them still used a plum bob to fix his casings, i could go on all night about how out of touch this company is but you'd start to think i was lying, its that bad.

no, but he also used to fix his frames with 3" floor brads and took 2 weeks to do all the casings in a 3 bed flat, and no, im not lying

I take it he was on day rate? A site I was on last year the joiner was using one of the houses as a kind of base. When he was putting the doors in he would carry the door to the plot then hang it see it was too big then take it off, carry it back to his base then shave a little off then try it again. He would do this maybe 30 times a door and at no point would use a tape measure. He was putting two doors on a day and getting £120.

the same lot of chippies took a roof off 3 times and it took 6 months to finish it because they kept getting it wrong...best thing is they were trusses! the builders dad made millions when he was in charge, and i mean millions, asda pay him 1 mill a year to rent their place. he pays them s**t wages and they do no money so they deserve each other

I had a tesco hammer once... £1.50 nobody stole it and I still have it.. I then bought an expensive hammer and the difference it makes nice balance no strained arm after a long day using it.... (not sure what for).

But christ they always get knicked!

Danny
