Fcuk me I'm on form tonight. Think this is me 4th thread. My fingers haven't had this much action since I met the chick when she was 16 lol.

Anyhow, wanting to know how one gets around doing the EWI around an external chimney with small step out slope. When its S&C, stop bead over some lead flashing and when water runs down the wall, its onto the lead then slope(very small roof) then onto wall again.

When its EWI and seeing as the products used. Seeing as its completely waterproof, can one do away with the lead flashing, as in cover it over with EWI then finish the slope like the walls.
Reason why I'm asking is I cant get my head around if one is using the 80mm EWI, if one used lead, there's a point where the EWI will be sitting out from the wall and water could get in behind it running of the lead.

Why do you want to EWI chimney?

If one doesn't cover it, I've been told it's a massive cold bridge. I've a big external chimney breast that slopes into chimney stack and is supposed to be a cold bridge which I don't want.

You don't do EWI to walls that are not connecting with the interior spaces. Pointless ! But if you still insist - use verge trimm for the top and base track for the bottom. Don't forget generous amount of mastic/silicon .

Even if it wasn't wrapped around the chimney, the gable ewi would still butt up against the breast and meet where the lead flashing is. I'll post pics of exactly what I mean so you can visualise it and see what I'm trying to say.
