Hi, I'm pricing on a rendering job where half the back of the house had a conservatory on the back and was plastered. The customer wants the plaster hacking off and then render to the whole rear of the house plus outbuildings, I've only ever rendered to new block work so was wondering if I'd need to use exmet on the plastered area or the whole area?. I'll be using a mix of 4:1 scratch coat and 5:1:1 top coat if this helps.

Thanks in advance

Russ

No need foe expamet unless its cracked. Put fibres in the scratch and finish coat, put render mesh in the scratch too for belt and braces, personally I would scud it all with sand cement slurry three to one sand cement with sbr in the mix ..

If you are removing the original plaster ,i cannot see the need to Eml , you can Rendaid to give a good key if you have concerns ,or other products that do the same job

How expensive is that rend aid, compared to making a slurry yourself

and you can bead mesh cloth into it as you go ,for a belt and braces ,as my dad would say :RpS_thumbup:

this is weird ,belt and braces :RpS_scared: only my Dad said that ,swear i did not read your post John

Think my Dad got it from his market days in Converted Garden ,his Dad worked there to as a sales men
