Nope not I - was always told you'd never need one as on all external corners you should be setting beads - I gues they might be useful for forming the odd external to get it somewhere handy before setting your bead, but on the odd occasion I need to, I used two trowels to form - Never used one in 5 years chief

Ha ha ha fair play to you - I never leave an external angle without a bead - the second you knock one formed by a corner trowel, you damage it - So if I were to use one, it would only be to build up a corner to such a point that I could put a bead on it - In short, always bead - looks far more professional and more robust should you knock it

trowel addict, more and more render systems dont use a solid bead , the system im using at the mo has only a solid base bead,on corners and window /doors we use a srim bead(think of a board bead but plastic ,glued to the inside of a ten inch wide piece of fibre mesh for the length of the bead).this beads job is mainly for impact protection and anti crack so you have to make you own angle hence the angle iron, then its used for the top coat(acrylic texture)to cover said angles again, keeps every thing nice and sharp.
