Merseyside Area: Need advice on what type of render to use... K Rend or Lime/cement/Sand?
Blockwork extension (70m2) (joints not raked out) and existing house (50m2) which has been painted. I understand that the paintwork needs sandblasting if K rend to be used, or EML if being rendered. I'm concerned that there are hairline cracks in existing paintwork, but there is at least 2mm of paint on walls (so could be thermal rather than structural). There are no lintels above windows (ie soldier course)and I am also concerned that K Rend will not be best choice if any movement does take place as it will on an old house
I appreciate your time and comments and am interested in the job being priced up once a decision has been made on "best" option
Thanks

Loads of lads on here around your area mate, am sure one of them would be able to nip round and help you out :RpS_thumbup:

Oh by the way I'd EML over the painted walls and use sand lime cement render 2coat job done! K rend is awful and discolours in no time in my opinion plus not cheap either!!

Thanks @flynnyman.

Crofty would you like me to take a look. We use Parex mostly along with krend enewall weber etc.

Parex have a renovation base coat that has a very high lime content for painted surfaces.
There are also other ways such as mechanical fix with pins etc.

Anyway it doesn't sound like anything you need to worry about.

What part of Merseyside are you?

Call me if you like

No wirral is local enough. In the rendering world you can't work in a 10 mile radius or you spend half the year at home.

We cover all of Cheshire all of Lancashire all of Merseyside and all of greater Manchester.

We have jobs in caldy/hoylake etc if want to see our work.

If you are serious about getting work done properly then call us.
