Figuring out how to deal with this mess

Hi everyone. I had a bit of a nightmare extension during lockdown which resulted in a bit of a mess being made of window fitting. I'm going to try and deal with it this summer before we get the cold/wet weather next winter.

Basically the windows don't fit the openings very well at all. I had a quote to replace with new property fitted windows and it was coming in at around £10k. They are floor to ceiling windows on 3 sides of an extension so quite big. So thats out of the question.

What I'd like to figure out is how to do it myself. I'm thinking about grinding back the render and fitting either corner beads or upvc trim around the inside of the reveal. However there are a couple of edges where there is just a 20mm gap filled with mastic which is failing.

I'd like to end up with a straight clean line around the window which is weatherproof and I don't mind however that is created. Its made more complicated as the surrounding render is rough cast. Also the depth of the reveal is very shallow - 20-40mm

Can anyone share any ideas or thoughts?

I'd point a neat fillet around the perimeter myself.

Cut it nice and sharp. Should all look even then.

More plastic would probably look shite - they're chunky enough already.

Nice idea tbf. How would I get a clean straight edge to the pointing? Would it need a bead of some sort?

Point in, let it pull in, by the time you point the whole perimeter section, you'll be able to drop back and start the cut and tidy it up.

Getting the mix right is key - add lime or polymer to strengthen and resist blowing through door use.

No bead - Straight edge and pointing trowel.
