Fire regs for a lift in a house?

One of my clients has had a lift installed going over 3 floors from the garage/basement right up through the house.

Around the sides and rear is block work so no problems there, however the lift sits to the side of the shaft and so some of the front aperture will need to be closing off.

They are studding it out with timber. My thinking is that the rear of this frame will need fire boarding as well as the front to protect the timber?

Does anyone know the regs for this, will 25mm of fireboard each side of the framework be sufficient or maybe too much?

Thanks in advance.

not sure 25mm fireline gives an hour fire rating, wouldn't have thought you could give it to much, id give building regs a ring at your local council, they tell you for nothing id imagine.

you get a hour per coat with fireline boards , but don't know about regs for lifts ,would imagine 2 hr. is enough

Thanks all, I'm off to meet the joiner on site now. There might be a spec there waiting for me, hope so.

last time i done one of theses we had to do it in supalux,, then unibond and set,, it was quite a while ago

Contact your local fire services fire safety inspecting officer.
The Regulatory Reform(Fire Safety)Order does not regulate for domestic premises unless they are houses in multiple occupation. Every fire service has moral obligation to advise on these regs. Sometimes certain elements will be devolved to a local authority building control officer.
Even a 3 floor domestic stairwell doesn't require fire protection or smoke detection.
