Fireplace blocked up

​I ve been asked to block up a fireplace and skim the wall.

I was was going to brick up the opening then apply a backing coat of hardwall.
Then i would skim the wall job done. Ooh nearly forgot to tell you i would of course leave a hole and cover with a vent.

Does this sound the correct way to you guys opinions please.

aye, it sounds ok, can you not just frame the opening out and board it just for quickness, leaving a vent opening obviously

Sounds fine, I would put the vent at the top of the chimney though.why bricks, selcons would be easier.

Opening is 560 x 460 mm
I did think about framing and boarding it i may still go that way

Stud and board the hole and then over-skim the whole chimney breast leaving a small hole to fit a vent, we also pepper pot the top.
