Hi Guys, thought id post a couple of pics of my handywork. This is my first plastering since my course back in October and Ive learnt a few things doing it at home away from a controlled enviroment.

- it takes a little practice to gauge how much to mix up, my first attempt i was short and ran out 3/4s of the way through on my ceiling which was a bitch. After a ceiling and 4 walls im getting much better, but still aint great.

- my drying/setting timings were a lot shorter than i expected and it nearly cost my the ceiling on the first coat.

- wba is fantastic stuff, first time ive used it, 2 of the walls were painted.

- you only get the true idea of how flat youve got it once dried, ive noticed a couple of misses that are really crap on the walls, but seemed flat when i finished 2nd trowel, which again is a bitch.

But considering Id only done 2 walls before my 1wk course, it aint come too bad at all, see what ya reckon. Cheers

looks ok mate a couple of observations 1st you need to keep window frames clean see pic 4 and it looks like your burning the plaster probably over trowling up otherwise keep going

good to see your trying on your own property first :-)

keep your frames and edges clean, use clean water when troweling up.

Give it a piss coat of paint to really see how bad it is or good :-0

Thanks for the feedback chaps - as windy says, what is burning the plaster how can you tell?

forgot the masking tape, but cleaned up window frames after i took the pics, so its all good now

Thanks Danny, that was my first room for my new little un, i have the landing ceiling, hallway ceiling boarded and ready to go next... yeah a mist coat will show up my failures and probably kill my confidence but am just learning so will have to just be more carefull next time.

spark - i did my 1 week course at the building skills centre in yeovil

lots of platerers burn the plaster by over trowelling esp when dry .the tell tale signs are black in the finish these are slight high spots usually on the first coat and are burnished to a black finish when trowelled up.its not the end of the world but shows too much work in trowelling up ,people like a shiny finish and this can be a result of that

nice work the finesse will come in time but yours looks nice and straight so keep going. Use some scrim rolled up in a ball to clean the frames down....good at cleaning without scratching the pvc
