first coat called roughing on second coat called laying down or closing in there shouldnt be a problem after the two coats are on the wall, just keep at it you become quicker and tidyer every day with skimming

i personally dont agree with the 'bang it on' first coat idea. i do it just as quick as others ive seen that do it rough. and i dont need to flatten it before i second coat it. then i just second coat it when its starting to pick up and go from there.

Same as Ste. Dont see how 'bangin it on " is any quicker than gettin the first coat on flatish.
Just practice mate. Just take yer time n do it right but be quick as well! ::)
It"ll come

practice , a descent worn in trowel and a little bit of suction helps ;)

You just can't beat a bit of suction for getting a decent job, where I'm working at the moment is so incredibly damp that there's f**k all suction it the render and the multi is working horribly.

so what were saying here is that put first coat on nice an flat then there is no need to flatten out getting a bit confused now i was allways taught to flatten out first coat but if there is no need im not going to be fussed with it

The two coats blend together better if you flatten the 1st one, it just makes the whole process easier.

fair play mate, on site over board me and my lads were the fastest gang around and i never used more than 4 bags on my own, i now do private work and only normally use 2 bags, maybe 3 if its a big surface but i dont try and push myself on private work. my lad will use about 1 bag per hit.

on site i would do 3 hits a day (only do 2 hits a day on private)

it blows me away that you use 7 bags in one hit :o

do you trowel it all up on your own?

it took 2 and a half hours to get on ;D.......we were chipping the ice of the butt mind .......agreed domestics a totally different game i nearly lost 2 and half bags in a bathroom cause it was a fair bit warmer than im used to .....i only get two sets on will try doing a bit less and 3 when summer comes round though
