they piss me off all that wire coming out of one socket is it nessessary! evan after I pushed them back as far as I can a mtr worth of cable hanging out well I started to cut them off now evan the ones with writing on them now how do u feel mr sparks ah its not nice is it

I know it's bloody crap, cut them short so they have the problem it's always fun to re mark them but on the wrong cables ( p.s I've never done this I'm a nice plasterer)

Ha ha I like it never thought of that one always been considerate to other trades but this last job took the pss and all price work

Show your class by leaving well alone finish by cutting the plaster out nice and neat and quitley go onto your next job .

I always clean the boxes out regardless of how much the sparkys are tw@ts but you've got to wind them up some times

i usually make a deal with the sparks if he rolls his cables back into the boxes ill clean them out if he dnt then ill leave them full of macca for him to clean out

Yep, just tell them if they want to get at their cables you need to get at the walls first, but usually you can judge a decent sparky within seconds of seeing the work he's left and by his attitude. I've been known to have a bit of fun with the odd knob-head ones, like fixing metal joisthangers around the ceiling cables so they can't screw in their light fittings. A particularly cruel one would be to swap the coloured cable sleeves around, but if they deserve no respect..................

lately ive been dealing with decent sparkys Wires all snipped and tucked well back. I actually prefer cutting them out because it makes our job look better.

I am one of the worst for holding a grudge though, especially if I've already spoken to them saying if they tuck em ill clean em. I've boarded over a few on one site. The sparky was pissing every trade off on that job. One of the brickie stripped every lightning wire in the flat. Wrapped each wire in gaffa tape. Then wrapped them all together then gaffa taped them all to the ceilings lol.

Someone cut the wires back in another flat flush with the top of the boxes.

When I say someone....I mean me.

I worked with a lad once who used to fill boxes up, the sparky then used to come along and smash the boxes with his hammer to get the plaster out, the spread then used to come back and patch around the boxes, consequently his work looked s**t, and he used to get the blame for it cos its his plaster. Funnily enough he now works in a factory because no one wants him on their jobs.

I cut all wires back, re-mark and tuck into the box, once skimmed i clean the boxes out, and clean the wires ready for the sparks to 2nd fix. I agree they're wankers, but it takes no noticeable extra time to sort and leaves the job tidy.

"takes no noticeable extra time" are you kidding. The place we're working on at the moment has twenty seven outlets just in the kitchen and everyone needed "sorting". Christ we could have boarded two walls while we were sorting that lot out. One thing's for sure the boxes won't be getting cleaned out after skimming.

No mate it takes me 10 minutes out of my day, and if it took longer id stay longer to ensure that when my bit was done it was left neat and tidy. No ones asking you to clean your boxes out bud its each to there own. In the small town where i live small details like that are the difference between a good name and a bad name.

Good to see you care about what others think or say in this world that will live in today :RpS_thumbup:

Bet the sparkies are laughing as they drink their early pints, saying similar to.......that spreads a right mug, he's doing half our job, he's even cleaning our wires.:RpS_lol:

Have you thought about fitting the sockets too, then your name will be legendary in the town.

I sometimes re-mark the wires with "tuck your wires in nobhead".

Another thing, why dont they mark the wires close to where they come out of the box instead of on the end of a two foot tail?

Quite the opposite actually mate, they pass my number onto their customers as they know my work is clean and tidy.
Might explain why im booked til Christmas.:RpS_lol:

If I'm honest, we always tuck the wires and clean the boxes out too and even put a few extra in.

It's annoying but I like my work to look nice when I leave it, my OCDs wouldn't allow me to do any different. I stop short of cleaning their wires though.

if they dont roll up nice and neat inside the box i chop them off and fnck the sparky unless its someone i know, they get one warning!!!!!

As some of you will know my son has been working with me for a while now. Well I know he's getting on OK as today, without any prompting he said "I fecking hate those electricians". Obviously there's still a bit of grammar school boy to knock out of him yet but he'll soon be calling them sparkies!
