me and anther plasterer floated out a extension last week over celcons with (hardwall)
hosed the walls down they was sopping wet then hit it put it on ruled it off.
run the trowel over it once then keyed it up.
left it for about 2days went back to set it all and there was some places that looked like a spiders web (cracks)
but was stuck on like something to a blanket.
we PVA,d the walls and went for it finished it all up and looked really really good.
when i went back to screed the floor :RpS_cursing: there was some small parts that looked like a spiders web in the finish now.
still smoothish to touch bit of easy fill and a sanding will cover it but never seen this before.
As i dont do a lot of float&set

what you lads think it was

"Me and another plasterer floated out an extension using Hardwall with no intention of setting it for two days"
Are you pair for fecking real?

You can use pva almost neat over hardwall on thermos that's sat there for a couple of days super duper suction

But would you not just float out enough in the morning to set in the afternoon, and then finish the rest two days later Spunky? I know I would.

thats how the builder wanted it done don't ask me !!!!
he wanted it hardwall'd first soo he can set out i dont know what ??
then aset it two days after we wanted to D&D it but he was a propper ****
2 coats of watered downPVA then two coats of finish

Would have been loverly to turn back and skim in the afternoon...........take it as a lesson learned mate :RpS_thumbup:

What's gyp rime like to use is it a lot stronger than pva? I've heard you can water it down quite a bit

Well there are times you just have tell them you know more about your trade than they do and that it'll be done when it's done. If you're any good they'll take that on the chin and wait the two days before he could "set out".

he wanted to set out the studwork for the new bathroom and the lay out for the kitchen and the sparks to play about all in two day i really dont know some times!!!!!!!!!!!!

brilliant stuff but a bit pricy. one coat over anything and it kills all suction. you can water it down but i did a bit too much before and it needed 2 coats which kinda defies the point a bit

so in other words, the job wasn't ready for plastering, nuff said

sounds like the builder should have gone with a s&c floating coat,if he didn't want it set same day.we used to hose down thermalite blocks and brickwork to take browning back in the day.
