Awryt guys . Was away pricing a hall and a living room for a customer today. They have only decorated their living room this week... Problem is they dnt like the wallpaper (lol) they have asked me to skim the walls and the ceilin. The ceilin has had a couple of coats of white emulsion paint. I would normally just Pva and skim if but im in a bit of doubt as the paint will be quite fresh. They want it done next week. Would it be a better idea to use wba or thistles bond it or maybe even something stronger? Im only askin this as the paint will be fresh. Any advice, cheers

Have you not realised it doesn't matter wat you use if substrate is wrong for pva its wrong for anything else, because other grits and solutions maybe stronger than pva they are still sticking to the paint you are concerned about!

To be honest this is the 1st time ive ever had to plaster onto paint thats only a week old. Although the paint will be dry when I skim it I was just a bit concerned of the freshness of the paint. cheers anyway

Customer doesnt want it boarded m8. Suggested it to them. They dnt wanty lose covin. **** it its gettin pvad and skimmed as normal.

Use a bonding agent and Let it set. Before you skim it check tp see how well its bonded to the ceiling

WBA is Knauf Betokontakt! I only ever use Betokontakt on paint now & just don't get the comeback I used to with PVA.:RpS_thumbup:

Heard a lot about it DMA. Personally av never tried it. How much is it and how big a tub?

About £55 for 20kg.

I rollered a 16x16ft lounge, stairs & landing today and used half a tub. I know what to expect tomorrow, no uneven suction, cracking or skim sliding down the wall .... just like skimming boards.

At this time of year it can be skimmed in an hour or so.
Tried 'em all but Beto goes on easier, goes further & is the best all rounder.

Try a little tub of WBA (1 should do your ceiling) and don't forget to stir the grit from the bottom first.

Thanks very much for the advice m8. Appreciate it Need to get myself a tub. See what its all about. Sounds superb ;)

Is it just me, why are they re plastering a freshly painted ceiling which was fine last week ?
Are you a blind plasterer from Grimsby, I say Grimsby or something ? :RpS_sneaky:7

@ irish spread. They never had their ceilin plastered its a mess they just gave it a few coats of emulsion and then wallpaperd the walls. They want the walls and ceilin skimmed up nice and flat so they can paint the lot. They are just movin in
