Hi all

First post on here but i've been reading the forums for a few months now, i used to use another "plasterers" forum but the conspiracy s**t post did my head in :'(

Anyhow i've been plastering on and off for a couple of years now, being a brickie by trade.

I've just built a shed outbuilding for a friend out of concrete block and i am in the process of rendering the outside my first time rendering anything, just got the scratch coat on today 24 bags of sand,my scratch coat was 4 to 1 with waterproofer.

Should i use lime in the top coat or just use waterproofer, i've read some people say you shouldn't use both in the same mix.

Thanks in advance, i'll post some pics when i find the cable for my phone.

cheers guys , before putting the second coat on would you just dampen the wall with water before going over it also i've got the bellcast on at dpc level which is between the first and second courses my mate has asked my if i'm going to render the first course, would you advise this or am i better of just painting it with liquid damp or would a thin single coat be ok stopping just short of the damp course.

A light spray with a hose will not hurt and try to work away from the sun , if its just one brick showing under the bellcast use liquid damp mate , if your mate wants it rendered use 4-1 sharp sand waterproofer no lime .
