Went to the tip to today do dispose of a load of off cut boards ,i usually store them in lockup and when i cant move in there transfer to missus 7 seater to remove them.
It was a lovely sunny day the birds were tweating in the trees as i casuaully drove into the tip to be told by some young delenquent i can no longer tip them here as its classed as toxic waste !!!!! WTF???
The guy explained to me that there was another tip 8 mile away where i could tip offcut plasterboards .But i would not be able to tip them if they got plaster on them ??? WTF.
Told him i pay £185 a month council tax and these are not commercial waste (lie lie ) but from my own dwelling ,so to get out my way cus there going right in there sunshine.
dumped them anyhow as this pr**k was writing my reg number down.

HOW IS THIS GOING TO AFFECT THE DOPMESTIC PLASTERER ???? NOT GOOD!!!!!

I gota a funny feeling that theres gonna be a lot of hedgerows full of board and plaster next time you go on a country drive.
im fummin honest what is going on in this country you tell me please.........

im sure i heard somewhere of a firm that will collect unwanted plasterboard and recycle it but i think they are the same must be clean boards not covered in plaster,

as for the domestic plasterer if you are going to have a serious ammount waste the removal cost needs to be factored into your price if you have storage then skip hire once a month should be sufficiant tho

If you do domestic, put the off cuts in the customers bin and if its a lot then use a hippo bag and put the cost onto the customer (about £60 full).
or commercial hire a skip (small one £40, big one £70)
Simple solution to a simple problem
Don't go fly tipping in the country side, that will just put your council tax bills up.

But the skip will only goto land fill the same as at the tip skips do,so why should i have to pay ?
when im paying my council tax and removing rubbish from my domestic dwelling only (lie lie )

If you factor in removal of rubish into the cost especially on smaller jobs then you will lose work becuse others with no morals will just dump it in a school playing field...

also I think you are only allowed a small percentage of your skip to be waste board, and by the way mat where are you from a big skip £70 they are 200 my way

plasterboard is now considerd toxic waste because most of it now is made from the buy product of flue gas ring gypsum they will point you in the right direction

the tip over my way allowed my 8 black bags of plasster hacked of MY house walls, - (lie) just this once. but said in future only 4 black bags are allowed.

i had to empty each bag in to a seperate skip away from the other skips, under the supervision of one of the tip workers, who was there to make sure no other materials what so ever went into this skip, e.g the black bags themselves or any concrete etc. and he was really on the ball, proper stressing the fact of no other materials in the skip.. (in the skip was old plaster and plasterboard)

basically they said to me gypsum is fine on its own until its mixed with other substances/materials and then it give off harmfull gasses/waste..

had fun and games with this myself...nearest recycle tip from me is min 30 miles away and your only allowed to bags per visit.....i did a ceiling this week 2 offcuts only...funny how much u waste when u dont have an issue with getting rid of it.....no skip company around my way are taking it now....so either drive or eat it in me sandwiches at lunchtime...is there gonna be a reviavl to wet backing plasterrs i wonder

we had a skip last summer to get rid of our junk we've gathered up over the years and with our agreement was a list.. no building waste, eg. plasterboard. ::)

got this off the hippo site..

" Landfill Tax and Plasterboard Regulations Update! - Two things have happened on the 1st April 2009 which may affect how you dispose of your waste. Firstly, Landfill Tax has increased by a further £8 per tonne meaning many waste companies have had to increase their prices too - great news that Hippo haven't, we're holding our 2008 prices exactly where they are! The second item is a change to the Gypsum and Plasterboard waste disposal regulations. These wastes can no longer be landfilled, even in a small quantity, with other material - they must be kept separate. As a result we will no longer accept Hippobags which contain plasterboard or gypsum mixed in with other waste streams. We are lucky to have a network of disposal options so we can collect bags of segregated plasterboard in certain areas or, for small amounts, you can place plasterboard in a clear plastic bag on top of your Hippobag and we'll take it away. Please do check with us first to see if we can provide this service in your area. For a full list of specialist and prohibited waste streams click here. "
