Given the choice would you rather let a new small extension settle for a period a before either traditional rendering in s&c or a thin coat system like weatherby with mesh texture/silicone finish.

Or do you never give it a consideration and just crack on as soon as ready?

Do I care/worry to much??? dunno???:RpS_confused:

In Ireland they used to leave it un rendered for 1 year. If you can leave it for a year or six months then fine if not...

i remember when they left a new build un - decorated for 3 months to let things skrink and dry , so no your not worrying to much

people these days want the fast buck , quick turn around and move on , adding mesh , fibres and stress patches can only be a good thing from our point of view but the laws of drying out never change , you cant put 100s of gallons of water into a build, decorate move on and not expect cracks both inside and outside , but you wont change greed .

Zombie am guessing this is for a builder ? Tell him about it and let him decide ..... A no what his answer will be i think .....

Thanks for the replies lads realy appreciated.

Only do small bits and bobs ref external work but when/what I have done as always been more hackoff and refurb apose to new works etc.

I just wanted some reassurance that im not being paranoid I guess realy, I think I will stress my concerns in my quote leaving a disclaimer in guarantee if rendered before say 6 mnth like John suggested as per Ireland etc.

Out of curiosity is there any sort of nhbc spec or whatever to quote on these things ref settle periods???

If still asked to proceed would you favour a thin coat with mesh as will be over mixed substrate etc?

ps I prefer to do thincoats so would be a bonus lol

Thanks Zombie

We mainly do new builds mate ,never had a problem yet ,think you might be worrying to much ,but that is not a bad thing :RpS_thumbup: If you can mesh the lot as in mono thats as much as you can do

Thanks keith appreciated. Think il go for weatherby or sps with mesh and silicone 1.5mm then appose to traditional s&c and just crack on and stop being a big girl!:RpS_blushing:

A major national volume housebuilder, who i occassionally bash for, allowed a family to move into a plot just 17 days after i finished plastering it (with no windows in it) at the begining of december.
Can imagine what that looked liked after 6months of the heating being on flat out.
Still if they run out of mushrooms while cooking the full english at least theyll be able to pick some off the back of the sh!thouse door.
