Can anyone help with this question, call me stupid but I cant seem to work out this question?????? :-?

Question 37:
We have a room to seal glue and skim,
4 walls, 1 ceiling
1 door @ 0.9 x 2Lm
room size = 3Lm x 5Lm
wall height = 2.4Lm

how many bags of finish required (multi finish ) . 9m2 per bag ?

I think the room size part s throwing me, do they mean the total area of the walls is 15m2 ???
Any help would be much appreciated????

hello yeah basically work out the area of the room minus the area of the windows and doors then divide it by 9 and you will get how many bags.

I tend to ignor all doors and windows and count it as a full wall but thats just me.

Danny

ceiling = 3m x 5m = 15m2
total area of walls = 3m x 2.4m = 7.2m2
= 5m x 2.4 = 12m2

door area = 0.9m x 2m = 1.8m2

7.2 + 12 + 15 = 34.2m2 - 1.8 = 32.4 / 9 = 3.6 bags of finish

Hello Danny,

Cheers for the reply!!!!

I'm working it out like you, but looking at question I'm thinking theres four walls so Im doubling 7.2 and 12m2 = 38.4m2 then taking out the door 1.8 and getting 36.6 m2 dividing by 9 = 5.73 rounding up to 6 bags.

I think the question is a bit backward, see what you think???

Thanks again- Im on the course soon and just wanna get this one straight.

Oh excellent!!!! I just sat there and thought this looks odd, but its just the way its written!!!!

Cheers Danny!!!!!

Bought my van the other day so not long and I'll be out there plastering !!!!!!

Thanks for the guidance mate!!!!!

;)

Van

Cor blimey!!! Buyimg a van was hard work!!!! I dont believe in paying dealer prices so a private buy was on the cards!!! They go so quickly!!!!
I had a list of two they are both not too big and just right for the larger board etc!!!!
Nissan Vanette and Toyota Hiace
I went for the vanette cargo, 2002 FSH plumber owned, 147000 miles £1500. It'll do me for the first van!!!!
I wouls insert a pic but I really dont know how to?

I know I just recently bought an escort van, perfect for plastering, 78k miles £250 happy days.

Never really needed the van cos of working on site but cos private work ect it is definiately wise too.

I looked at loads of vans all sorts new old really old nothing seemed worth the money especially for something that is going to get knackered

Danny

errrr. Forgive me I may be being dense but...........

is 36.6m2 divided by 9? does that really = 5.73?

My calculator says it's 4.04.

Sorry not being difficult just tryin to understand it.

I've got a ceiling to do tomorrow 10m x 3m so 30m2/9 = 3.3 bags

Is that right?

Cheers Danny
got loads was just trying to get my head round discussion cos maths was making my head hurt and couldnt get 9 into 36.6 5.73 times .
lol
