Ceiling that is :RpS_wink:

Its about 27 metres over thin swirl artex. 2.4 high. Living room/dining room through and through. I've scraped it back and gave it a good 2 coats of WBA with a wee touch of PVA. Unfortunately i'm on my own. Normally i'd horse into it but after my recent bout of ill health i need to take things a bit easier. So any good advice guys?

Just split in 2 casper and do a rolling gauging if it was me what I would do is put half on let that take up and then the other half then give first half a pass over and then second coat the other half and you will be in control. How long and wide is it. Mix in buckets casper and dont pull your guts out on gorrila tubs.

Henry, the length is roughly 6-7 metres. it's 2 different widths. The dining area is roughly 3 metres then it widens into the living room to about 5 metres. I reckon stilts would be a great idea on this. But never used them lol Got myself the usual hop up, ladders, crates and scaffy board. TBH i usually just have it with my hop up but my fitness is questionable!!

i think youll be ok mate. sorry hi im new here bin a member for a while just havent been on here. ive got a ceilin to do this weekend and thats 35 square meters.
the biggest ceilin ive done with just a lab knocking up was the other week and that measured 75 square meters, it took about 10 mabey 11 bags to 2 coat it. admitedly i was on stilts so that make life easier. so theres my tip for ya stilts. i think youll be ok though i often worry bout big areas before i start them then once im goin realise i was worryin over nothing.

Yer it's a lot of up and down for you mate think about stilts for the future will save you loads of time.

Mate get someone in to help you. Half a days work offer them 100. They'll be happy with that and you've still made a nice bit of dough

youll p'ss it mate, give it a coat of bonding agent if you like and just mix up little mixes, not even a full bag and just roll it along.. be a 3 bag set.... im with spunk.. easy 120 quid 4 hours out the door....

give him £50 not a full days work but it takes the heat off you. maybe get him to tidy the van up while your trowelling lol

I always mix a medium Gorilla tub. 1 and a half bag. Although when i'm working with a mate on bigger areas we use the bigger gorilla and get nearly 3 bag in it OUCH!!! LOL

Sure did henry. We went through 5 bag. Got the first half on with a full gorilla tub then troweled over while the lab mixed another for the other bigger section. We were short by about 4 metres, so another small mix then a trowel over. Good job i had the labourer as i was burst at the end of it. It took just over 4 hours of constant graft. I had given the ceiling 2 coats of WBA and some PVA but it was still pulling in a bit too quick for my liking!

Happy days mate , it's a good feeling when you start earning again. With WBA It more to seal and present a surface for skimming. . I find it grabs but once you give it a couple of passes it can then hang a while before the final trowel and you can get a nice finish wth wba.You have to admit it's nice having an extra pair of
hands to fetch reach and carry for you.

i have to admit theres nothing quite like working with a labourer. a decent one anyway. the job i'm starting tomorrow is going to be pretty much full time so if i can get one with me i will.

Yeah, i'm going to see if i can find a decent labourer to help me full time. It halfs the effort involved.

Beddy.....up for it, mad for it :RpS_laugh:
