I have been plastering now for about 12 years and have shopped all over the place to try and find the best price on beads, scrim, PVA etc. Through one of my mates I have found a company in Clitheroe (up north) which offers 8ft Catnic bead for £27.50 a box......55p per bead!!! They are legitimate Catnic too. They only ask for an order of £50 to get free delivery. They also do a full range of beads, PVA at £5.99 plus drywall screws, dust sheets etc. My contact is a young lad called Mark on ***********. I hope this may be usefull.

I have also been looking for a good price on Berg mixers. I have had on for a couple of years and it has been brilliant.

Hi Matt ,sorry had to delete the phone number of the firm you are advertising , give Danny (site owner ) a Private message and check its OK to advertise firms phone numbers , i sure he will help you out .

Welcome by the way ;)

Ha! I have had my hand slapped big time and I've only been on here an hour or so!!!! Ooooops! Its a firm called R&J and I DO NOT work for them. I'm only trying spread the word!! The guy is called Mark Day!! NOT MATT!!!xxx ;D

Just about everything I ever bought from them I sent back. Scrim was crap. Paper tape was crap. The thincoat beads weren't thincoat beads, and no matter how many times I told the salesman that I don't use PVA, it was always the first thing that he asked me if I wanted. Got on my tits so I don't answer their calls anymore.

I've been using R&J for about 6 years but Tony is right about them, if you have the cheapest scrim then it ain't that good and I used to send so many of boxes of beads back damaged it drove me mad. In the end I told them I wouldn't accept any more deliveries by Nightfreight, after that they started to send one of their own vans down.
Have also had a few wrong items delivered and it's a nightmare getting them to collect, and they keep trying to get you to pay for the wrong items all the time you're waiting for them to be collected. Oh and you're right Tony I kept telling them that they were stocking the wrong thincoat beads, theirs allowed about 6mm :o

Learnt long ago, just by them locally and pick them up.had to many problems with damaged goods wrong items late deliverys or NO delivery.Trying to save a few quid doesnt seem to work for me.
Having said that i recently baught some collated drywall screws from a company reccomended by a mate called trimfix uk i bought 10,000 (ten thousand) 50mm collated screws for £59.00 delivered to my door with vat and postage and extremely happy with the screws and the service i got from them.Around my way collated screws are £14 for 1 thousand, these i bought are better quality than them!!

There based in sussex pm me for the No if any one wants it

Ive recently done some work for a builder and he suggested that R+J to me, sound really cheap, £5 odd for a box of 1000 collated screws or £40 for 10000

We've had similar problems with some of our suppliers but Gorilla have always been good but they do pester you. Bought 200 rolls of scrim from Obas and they changed it 3 times, every time it was crap but they took it back in the end up. Bought Cornercare beads from Obas and they're not as rigid as the Catnics so think we will go back to Gorilla for our next order.

Please make sure you have the correct facts regarding any companies going bankrupt etc if they are not fact and only hearsay this could lead to major problems for site admin, Previous post removed for that very reason , if proven then will be re-instated

And why do you think Gorilla have gone bust??? Because they are a crap company!!! If you wanted a different depth of bead then surely you should of asked or at least mention what type R&J were sending? I'm sure you don't buy shoes and don't mention the size do you?? :-* :-*

It was the full on sales pitch that used to f**k me off about R&J, and the fact they wouldn''t know a thincoat bead if it was hanging out of their arses. Tossers.

Tossers is a bit harsh!! Everyone has to earn a living surely?? They have been trading for over 40yrs so must be doing something right.

I think you might just need to get laid Tony. You sound a bit het up to me hun.xx

Matt I've used R&J for a fair while and I can tell every time I asked about thincoat beads I was assured that they would be the right ones turn up only for the ones that allow 6mm to turn up yet again >:( A little while ago I ordered some drywall screws from them and was very clear which ones I needed, and what turns up, the f@@king wrong ones. It even turns out they don't even stock the ones I asked for >:( >:( and when I complained they said they would be collected straight away. A month goes by and they're still not collected and a overdue demand turns up threatening to damage my credit rating >:( >:( >:( phone them up and have a rant and they apologise and say the screws will be collected and the invoice removed, guess what I've still got those f@@king screws >:( >:( >:( >:( Basically if they haven't got what you need they will send you something you don't want hoping you'll just accept it and pay up. >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( I'm not very happy.

i think the best thing is to stay local then you actually see what you are getting. my problem is that my locals dont really carry what we need especally when it comes to exterior bead tanking plugs if the bead you require aint white then my locals are snookered. so i use a company i ring. its as simple as that really. im not going to plug them but i buy most of my externel bead from these guys. if any bodys interested pm me if not who cares lol

Harsh Andy !!

Hardly when you think about it MIke (9656mg works for R&J). If you think back over the years, all those bent beads, split boxes of nails, wrong deliveries and more recently the screws.
Ouch !!! looks like ive been "outed" yes i am employed by R&J, could do with knowing exactly where in the country you guys with problems are based and perhaps we can identify delivery probs etc

R & J are okay but the other day they phoned me with a great offer!

20 boxes of beads and I get a free ipod!

Well 1st off it'd take me 2 years to get through 20 boxes of beads, and the other thing is I f*ckin hate music

Now 5 boxes of beads and a soapy tit w@nk and were talking business :)
