I have used them for years... on one coat internal work only... but i prefer a derby and spatular for external monocouche... mind you these days the derby doesnt come out much now... only if need to form a hard arriss.

The serrated darby from utiform with the cow horn handles is my axe of choice on monocouche renders. cuts through it lightning quick then a quick blast with the spat and mooooo sorted :)

Why use a serated darby?

I have never used these weird renders so I have no Idea mate.

Just found a piccy of them, says they are £45. I have been looking at the price of darby's lately and there seems to be a huge variance in prices, I have seen them at about £20 right up to £50-odd quid..........anyone know what the difference is?

£30 :)

i'd stick with trapezium edges if its for hardwall mate ive got a h section and would stick with the handled darby for outside work you can get more pressure on ........there more for one coat work i'd imagine
