Just about to buy some more kit and was looking at a h section and a I section rule.

can u use the I section on sand and cement or are they just for the likes of k rend.

Also so is a h section better at ruling sand and cement than a derby or feather edge?

Not necessarily better at ruling. Its still you on the other end of it. Just personal preference. I like the h rule because your hands are out the way of the muck. Its a comfortable grip and its good for closing in after ruling

I cut mine down with an angle grinder. I have used a I section on sand and cement but you finish up with little scratch left. Perfect though for those jobs that have an annoying bit of slump. An easy way of getting it back to flat.

Cool are they easy to cut. Was gonna buy a 6ft h and cut it down to a 4 and 2 foot
Buy a 10 ft mate then cut down , have the 6ft as your main rule , then 3ft and 1ft , that is how i have always done it , not saying it is right :RpS_unsure:

Forme the old Darby all the way get plenty of pressure on when ruling and your hands are out of the way and you can adjust the handles to suit

Personally I don't like the h section rules, I prefer a sturdy traditional featheredge. Not saying they're better just personal preference.

The old h rules are as sturdy andy the refina not as i have the old ones

Sorry Gary I wasn't really clear. I didn't mean that the h section rules weren't sturdy, I meant I use decent featheredges as opposed to the lightweight flimsy featheredges which I wouldn't use over about four feet long.

never got along with the h rule handle, learned ruling on a darby with handles and I have now found a darby with a slight serration on it from the states but the teeth aint as good as the ones here but the joy of handles....oh yeah
