Hi all

Did a reskim about a month ago in a house i own. Was goin over old plaster. PVA then 2 coats of multi.

Havent painted it yet due to other priorities but checked on it last week and there are tiny hairline cracks everywhere on it? They have only shown up in last week so WTF causes them and how can i prevent this in future??? I assume its easifill to repair but would like to avoid this in the future :RpS_mad:

what was the backgorund, ie artex , plasterboard, lath and palster? were there cracks there before?

roll the walls with thistle bond it u never get comebacks pva crap doesnt flex nearly always get hairlines the old walls probably lime mortar in old house

iv had a hairline the other day on an over skim of a plastered ceiling, was in good shape just had new spots fitted so overskimed, we used bond it to seal then scrimed all cracks but the hairline was in and area were there was no crack before!

iwas the heating turned off for a good while then put back on this can cause hairline crazy cracks.imo and it is just my oppinion most spredz use pva as it says on the tin but i say use a much stronger mix nice and thick but rollable leaves a good coat on wall this imo will stop hairline crazy cracks as it stops the old lime mortar sucking the moisture out too quick ,if the heating then goes on and you hvnt used a strong pva mix problems sometimes happen
