Skimming an artex hallway today and thought I'd put a half time in the second coat so it didn't hang around to much was over zombie mix was an absolute dream to finish was effortless on both sets. Left an hour between first and second coat ( was a deep pattern so wanted it pull in a fair bit) and sets were done in 2.30....anyone else do this....not so much the time but how easily it finished. If it makes the gear so much nicer I'm almost considering sticking one in every top coat, gain 30 mins and have a less sore elbow and customer can pay for it

It's like the halftime makes the gear the way it should be, I've thought this for ages, like BG need to take the accelerant out but add whatever else is in it to their bags as never had bad gear when halftime or extratimes in it...sometimes struggled with the gear and then same bags with that in are fine

Don’t know how you guys are getting hours between sets? My one coat will be f**k**g rock hard in 1h . Had to split the mixes- 40 mins from mixing to finish .

I personally found extra time to be just what it is - extra tosh. And the plaster dries funny.Get your timing right and you don’t need to spend extra tosh

Was glossy artex, my sets have been consistent really about 2.30 but keep windows and stuff closed

I did a hall way n bit or stairs ceiling monday. Scraped pva .d put two small bits of board in two holes . Left door open .start to finish 2 n half hours 100 quid . All i need is one a day ha

Wasn't extratimes I was on about, halftime....I wasn't saying it was a revelation but seems to finish so easy and seems to make gear really consistant

Think I'm going to have a month anyway where I put 1 in every second coat and see what happens, worst case it costs me £100 and is wank but today over artex was really nice and easy and it was horrible deep s**t to go over

You want half time......... keep a bit of your previous mix aside and wet . Add it to your new mix and f**k**g hurry up lol. This is how I do the reveals- adding some fresh gear to the old one .

And over board should bring sets down to about 2 hours with fresh gear so get me home an hour earlier

Lol I'm always to scared for s**t like that, as no idea what will happen, I had some reveals once and added a halftime to about a quarter of a bag, went to scoop the first scoop and it was rock hard

nothing my friend will beat hot water.

@Lodan

The skim pulls in quicker over the bonding in the finish anyway...
It does zombie but I use your mix a lot and the pva took nearly an hour to dry so was very low...so defo knocked a bit of time off don't mind about time anyway it was more how effortless it was to finish and could tell it will look mint dry, always find on artex the way it pulls over the different depths usually takes a bit of arm to close it in all flat but didn't have any of that...or I might just be talking s**t

It happened once to me with bonding. Still don't know how I did it.
