Hardwall to stick beading on not good

Hi, I used a small amount of hand mixed hardwall to secure some beading around a window but it is powdery crumbly now dry so may need to do again.
Did hard wall dry too quick or is it a bad idea to use for small bead?
Used bonding on other windows a month ago and that seemed ok.
Thanks

Only use gear if the angles a mess. 20mm clouts or scrim
If use gear use end of gauge when its going off thick

Thanks all. Levels were not great and window reveal was onto pb on brick. Face side was insulated board onto brick. didnt have much to nail into hence using the hardwall. Now sorted with some small clouts too. Thanks

Clouts if they dont work get bigger clouts . Though on insulation boards i scrim edges over foam then put some finish over before i skim
