I know times are hard but I'm picky! got offered a job as a Landcape gardener on 18.5K after triall period but I turned it down cause I want to stay in building trade. Worked out after petrol n tax i would only come out with £230 and that dosn't impress me.
I know i might live to regret it ( if missus finds out) but I would of buggered off anyway when things pick up.

Its a tricky one mate! I think I would have taken it and done what ever bits and pieces of plastering turned up evenings and weekends. Each to their own, Good luck though, hope something turns up soon for you.

im seriously considering getting a conservatory roof ladder and dishing out a load of leaflets, theres dirty conservatorys everywhere but homeowners cant get up there to scrub the green gunk away.

weathers turning out to be alright and if i can earn some money working in the sun then jobs a goodun, plus you can hire them for £28 a day... so dont think ill go out and buy one unless the works available. and i'll be painting a few houses and a garage soon. and a few small plastering jobs to do. theres my career plan at the minute :o tho i'll be taking the signs off my van as i dont want to be seen as an odd job man :-\

Just stick with it. My sources say its starting to turn so don't give up your skill!!! We have all got to stick together and promote each other. If not we will have all these knob heads from 2 week courses taking over.

they do an extended angled brush with a soap resorvoir you connect to your hosepipe specially for conny roofs.. you could start sellin em!!

My mate spent thousands on a new conservatory with "self cleaning glass" its been covered with bird s**t for months now with no sign of it self cleaning ..... haha i give him grief.

Rich

ive seen them conservatory poles with hose and washy bit ont he end, cant beat gettin up there and giving it a quick pray and a couple of wipes and the gunk comes right off, ofcourse i'll pant and puff a little and say "cor blimey you swine" to make it look like im actually putting some effort in ;) could easily fit in 3 conservatorys in a day, easy money 8)

eres a good tip for u then mate, i used to fit em btw..
if you scratch the poly, polish it with wax..
swarfega is good stuff for grease..
dont use cream cleaners on poly or woodgrain..
the isobutelene (blow your brains out) cleaners smear like buggery on poly..
use any old cream cleaner with a green pad on white plastic, forget 'pvc cleaner' its the same stuff..
stubborn marks will come off with t-cut..
burns and deep scratches will come out of white plastic with wet and dry, then polish with t-cut then cream cleaner...
general clean - spray the whole lot with glass cleaner (not poly, just glass and white frames) the cream the whole lot, the glass will polish up like nothing on earth..
deep scratches on woodgrain - use a brown coloured wax stick...
hope this helps.. ;D

dont need a ladder mate, i'd prolly climb out the bedroom window, spray a hessian doormat with glass cleaner and slide down the roof on it! ;D

haha class, either your midget or your going straight through that roof! :o

thankls for the info tho, hand on heart i wont remember it all and i'll ge tmixed up and do something wrong, so ill print it off and put it in my conservatory care handbook that dont actually have :-*

Get some scrim tape a few metres worth and scrunch it into a ball, when the skim is dry rub it off with the scrim it works a treat

poly is 25 times stronger than steel weight for weight..
glazing bars at 800 ctrs will sag in the middle with my weight but it'll take it..
glass roofs have to be safety glass..
ive shot off them things before today at mach 2.. not a good idea really..

F*****g nice one rich.. never thought of that..

bet that works a treat on skirtings and architraves too where you dont wanna scratch the paint... 8)

when you say poly... i assume you mean the plastic roofing panels?

yeh, twin or triple wall polycarbonate...
bronze, clear, opal, or heatguard opal, or opal (white basically) on bronze..
the fluted plastic stuff yeh..

i never knew it was that strong... *wraps himself in hessian and an extra helping of jute for the nads - bunjeeeeeeeeeeeeee *

sright mate, only thing you gotta be wary of is the poly poppin out of the glazing bars... if that happens then yeh, youre goin down..sharpish ;D

providing theres a big breasted soap party going on below id more than happliy pop one out ;)
