hello my names roy im 25 been plastering since leaving school so quite a while went to college etc, the company i worked for from school closed just over a year ago so i went self employed but god its hard to catch a break i worked for another company then there work dryed up and they have there own plasterers so i was first to go, i get a few phone calls and the jobs i do people are happy with and all my work is through word of mouth i advertise in papers etc but theres like 7 plasters in there anyway does it get better after a while as i get so bored and just would rather be working 40 hours a week
 
Hello. Stick with it man things allway work out in the end .you never know someone on here may be in your aera and able to help you out.

keep it up mate try a few internet sites i get quite a bit from checkatrade it works well for me

Hello roy welcome mate, and good luck maybe you could try signing up with a few agencies to keep you ticking over.
 
I did look into agency's and they sent me a few things but there mainly big site stuff which im not used to and a bit daunting
 
Sign up to a different agency and become a gigalo instead?? :eek:

Drive around sites almerasi....big plastering contractors too small builders.
you can never have enough contacts.
Ive been off this week..spent time getting more contacts...
back to work on monday ..i just want to cry lol
 
hi roy,, welcome mate,,,dont be put of by big sites mate, if you go to a big site for an agency you will probably be making good or something similar , there's usually others spreads doing all the big stuff, give it a go mate you can always walk away but im sure youd be fine,,, its better than nothing
 
local paper adds work fine for me. when i'm short. there's usually three or four others. i always state artex removal / skimming over artex in mine. none of the others advertise that and a lot of people are searching for just that. i hate skimming artex. but some are a piece of p1ss, just a stipple. if it's anything more just bang the notes on because the others aren't advertising it. try it, mate. it works.
 
Hello fella, I'm from Poole and there's plenty of plastering company's around b'mth & Poole, give them a shout as they are always looking for fresh blood, don't be put off with site work, always a good way to meet other spreads,find other work through it and learning new tricks of the trade,
