Hi all,
I've fallen into plastering and rendering at a later stage in life than a lot of people after 20 years office work in the finance and welfare game. Got made redundant a couple of years ago then started 'temporary' labouring for a local private landlord guy (who is a tightfisted c***), fell in love with building work and wished I'd started years ago.

I've got a million things to learn about everything from different mixes to timings, but I'm getting better at it every day and really enjoying all the help some of the old boys pass on to me on the job.
I totally respect the knowledge and experience longtime plasterers have and I'm always happy to be told 'that's crap, should've done it this way' if I'm doing something wrong.
Looking forward to learning a lot more from the members posts here, and hope one day to be able to offer the odd useful contribution myself.

Oh, and I chose 'Sponge' as my username because for the last couple of years I've been soaking information up just like one. My Poundland 3 packs of sponges are also my favourite best value bit of kit for polishing off :-)

Cheers chaps, I look forward to all the tips I can get from the forum. Not a big forum poster myself, but a keen reader, appreciate the welcome.

Haha, yep but I always put 100% effort into my finish even while the guy who pays the cash has a "That'll do attitude", I am proper determined to learn as much as I can, and get ripped every day about being the oldest apprentice on site. Life's a long time though, 30 years before I get a state pension so I'm sure I'll know a few tricks by then.
