Hello all,

I joined to look into my options at getting into plastering as a career move.
Currently in my first job as an IT administrator and the office life is sooo overrated.

After reading posts on here over the past few hours it seems I may well be out of luck getting into the trade.

Age : 25 so still youngish but not 16
No building experience
Have a degree but in networking so of no use.
Have a mortgage so can't do any form of full time course unless I took a dramatic pay cut and relied on the other half.

Looks like i'm screwed before i even begin .


Still thought i'd say hello as I have found quite a lot of the posts on here quite humorous whilst explaining a lot.

Welcome mate, to learn the trade you'd need to start at the bottom on a small wage so your quite right to be sticking to the office. Is there no fit birds to perv at?

I think if you really really want to do something you find away in somehow..... but it's more understandable maybe if that dream is to be a movie star/film maker/mega rich etc :RpS_laugh:

At least your honest and realise the truth before you waste your time in what appears as a windows vista. (A project that should have been binned for anyone who doesn't like computers too much)

As a little update one of my Sisters friends is apparently a self employed plasterer in Oxfordshire where I live.
Will be speaking to him this weekend about tagging along and see what a days like.

join the fire service, or become a teacher or an engineer some profession that plasterers have no problem with,

Fire service is a good one. Passed a few on the picket line this morning if your good at spitting your dummy out when you want more money you'll fit right in
