We’re definitely in the wrong game brickies tilers sparks plumbers joiners all seem to do quick fix jobs for what seems half a days pay to us! I’m definitely coming back as the dick Turpin of the building game !

Funny you should say that.. the plumber on my job was saying he was on a job and the neighbour asked him to do the same as what youre saying said he really didnt want to do it so said it will be 250 to put them off said thats great when can you do it... he already had everything plumbed in so that was just to connect took him 20 mins

I heard this morning that a large builder is offering trades a days pay for a sat morning........based on the fact that with the current take up of this offer, they can finish a plot quicker and borrow less for less time..........it’s maths.

A sign?

I gave a plumber a hand at my mate's house - took the boiler down to the front door. By the time I came down with the second half, the first half had gone!

Hi Lads, new here, first post.

I think if you are pricing at £120 a day you need to rethink.

Firms charge £250 a day for labouring, no matter the trade. So we need to stop stinging ourselves.

The only factor to take in is this, what are you capable of doing in a day?

For example, i can do a 6x3m kitchen diner knock through in a single day with my labourer. I charge £200 a day and give my bro £40. £160 for me. No the gear for just a re-skim is about what, a ton? so £300. Thats far too cheap for a room that big so then i add what i feel anther 100+ depending on the feel of the customer, if i was recommended or not.

Now as i can do that in a day, no chance am i breaking my back for £120 + £40 (bro). If i was a one man band that means it would take me a long day on my own, or a day and a half. If at £120 a day thats £180. And that is too cheap for that room.

A 3x2 box room is done in 4 hours tops. So assuming i work on £200 a day, theres no way they're getting it for £100 labour cost. So i bump it up £50. Then do it on my own or do two in a day and then take home £300 - $40 labourer.

Everyone is different i think depending on speed. I usually hoy on 9-10 bags a day. Thats decent. Will i last long doing this? Probs not. But we need to move up from a measly £120 a day imo. We're the most skilled trade IMO, so lets start thinking that way?

Why you paying your bro £40 you tight git if you getting £300

Obviously if i get more he gets more but tbh he's a Halfwitt who has never shown any interest in picking up a trowel. I have to tell the lad how to breathe and when to chew his food, you guessed it! He's 21. A free loader, spoiled brat. So until he learns to do things without me telling him like a proper plasterers labourer ( Almost a trade in itself from what i remember) then his wage aint going up mate!

Anything constructive to say about what i said or are you gonna keep getting £96 after tax a day? :hueco:

On a constructive note that 3*2 boxroom you doing 2 in a day for £300 (minus bro) I'd do one for the same price with no labourer and my shoulder wouldn't hurt so bad from trying to do 10 bags

Your metreage rate is quite low, ten bags, at lets say 10 metres a bag which is low but what the bag says is 100 metres for three hundred quid is three quid a metre thatt doesn’t even include beads, maybe some food for thought
