We had plastering done and plasterer used sticky film to protect our wooden floor. Unfortunately it's left a residue which is not sticky. I've tried to get it off with heat, turps, white spirit, wd 40, scrubbing etc etc to no avail. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Are you sure it’s not lifted the lacquer off the flooring?
Even hard floor can do this if left for a month or more, it can do it in less if exposed to heat or direct sunlight.
I do two weeks - have a good clean up and then renew.
