Hi all.

Glad I've found this forum, I am renovating a 1920's property which has been finished in some form of wetdash?

I now have the dilemma of what to do with matching the new section in with the old. And some patchwork which needs doing to the original.

I like the look of the new stuff on the market (silicone based stuff) but would like some advice on a few things.

I've had a few quotes, these have been to match the roughcast down the side of the house, then use a new coloured system on the rear and opposite side.

Now in your honest opinions would this look utterly rubbish with the two different finishes.? Anyone done similar.

The other options would be to remove old and do the whole lot again. Or to just dash the whole house to match the existing.

I am in a real pickle here, obviously money is a factor but I don't want the whole project to look rubbish as I have put months and months into this place.

Here are a few pics.

Also if anyone is interested in the job or to come and offer me some advice and a quote please message me.

Thanks alot

Here are a few pics.

No idea why they have uploaded at 90° though

Cheers all

Take off the existing if possible without damaging the structure, HP12&mesh it, k rend dash receiver & k tend wet dash in what ever colour you want.
The whole lot of it.
You can never patch wet dash sufficiently, you'll always see it without blathering layers of paint on it.

If as you say you've 'put months & months into it, it's the only way.
No need for wet dash if you'd prefer something else mind, but the krend stuff is top gear.

Aye a wud hack it off and do the lot the same , possibly coloured render etc . Depends on the price you have in , but surely you have enough in for it done that way mate

Def hack off. You will always see a join. Weber tyrolean can give you this same finish which is precoloured and sprayed. Or if your budget allows spend more on the silicone finishes

Most customers like the idea of having a decent render although don't like paying for a proper job.
I'm approved by parex although it goes over there head when they get the quote to re-render

You can hack off then re-render the whole in whatever you want. But this is a 1920's house. Would a 21st century finish look ok on an early 20th century house?

If so then there are lots of finishes to choose from. If not then consider K Rends wet dash. At least it is coloured. I have done these old houses in modern finishes and they loose their charm.

Cheers all.

I am considering removing all the original render on the large gable wall. I just don't want to come across any damage to the brickwork beneath.

This will give a much cleaner finish down this side of the house.

I do agree that a smoother render may take some of the originality away.

Kgreigh I'll pm you mate.

Thanks again
